Weibo is the Chinese term for microblogging, Sina Weibo the largest service of this kind in China. Sina Weibo was founded by the Sina Group in 2009, when Facebook and Twitter were banned in China. Sina Weibo is considered the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, but it also has various functions that rather compare to Facebook. Since 2016, posts are no longer limited to 140 characters but can be up to 2000 characters long.
